Al Davis spent much of his time at the podium Tuesday discussing the situation with ex-Raiders coach Tom Cable. Here is a selection of his comments:

"Tom (Cable) had been told earlier in his career that he could have been fired without pay for the wrath he brought on the Raider organization."
----------------
"I asked Tom Cable at least 3 or 4 different times, is there anything else that we have to deal with relative to the accusations made against you? I was never told about the three women."
----------------
"All of this stuff goes a long way against my wishes, against my way of living, against my life and against the Raider way, and I just wasn't going to take it anymore."----------------
"We had a spouse accuse the coach, the head coach, of personal public relations that were not good. And at that time there were a lot of people in the Bay Area who wanted me to take action, take action against the head coach because supposedly he admitted he slapped his wife and they wanted me to take action on the Randy Hanson matter."
----------------
"I just didnt think he could do it. Not when I saw the contrast with Hue Jackson. I want to make this point: As much as you think Tom was supported in the locker room, he was, to a point. He was with the people that he socialized with. But Hue Jackson will be supported in the locker room just as much as Tom Cable, if not more."
----------------
"He knew he was through. He also knew how to go in the locker room and get the support, which is good. I think its great for a coach to get support when youre leaving."
