PORTLAND, Ore.(AP)Tim Douglas scored 26 points to lead Portland past Saint Mary's 85-70 on Saturday.Saint Mary's (18-4, 6-1), coming offThursday's 73-71 victory at Gonzaga, was looking to close the firsthalf of the West Coast Conference season without a loss. But Portland(16-6, 4-3) is 12-0 at the Chiles Center this season.After a close first half, the Pilotsblew the game open by outscoring the Gaels 27-2 right after halftime.Douglas, a freshman guard, had 10 points during the run that putPortland ahead 60-33.The Gaels answered with 13consecutive points, six by Mickey McConnell, to cut the gap to 60-46.Saint Mary's got within eight before Portland pulled away.McConnell hit five 3-pointers andfinished with a team-high 32 points for the Gaels. Jared Stohl had 21for Portland, hitting 5 of 7 from the 3-point line. Portland was 13 of20 from behind the arc.
