Sharks place Niittymaki on IR, recall two

SAN JOSESan Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forwardTommy Wingels and defenseman Nick Petreckifrom the Worcester Sharks, the teams top development affiliate. Wingels, 22, has appeared in five games with San Jose this season in three different NHL stints. In Worcester, he has recorded 19 points (9-10=19) in 44 games. The six-foot, 195-pound native of Evanston, Illinois was originally selected by San Jose in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Petrecki, 21, has spent the last two seasons in Worcester. This season, he has appeared in 40 games and recorded seven points (3-4=7). His 86 penalty minutes lead the team and he has accumulated eight fighting majors on the season. The six-foot-three, 230-pound native of Schenectady, New York was originally selected by San Jose in the first round (28th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
