Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced Tuesday that injuredcloser Brian Wilson will start the season on the disabled list.

Bochy said that Wilson has yet to be officially placed on the DL, but he will be to start the season.

Wilson, who has not pitched in a game since March 17, will be eligible to come off the DL April 6, when the Giants play the Padres in San Diego.

The Giants' All-Star closer didn't pitch in a spring game until March 6 due to back tightness, then worked in five games before leaving a game against the Angels on March 17 with soreness in his oblique.
