The Giants released right-handed starter Jeff Suppan, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Giants general manager Brian Sabean said the decision was mutual since Suppan knew he wasn't going to make the rotation or the bullpen and wanted the chance to find a job with another team.

The Giants signed Suppan in January and the 36 year old went 1-1 with a 5.50 ERA in six spring games.
