Source: Alabama DT Dareus to visit 49ers Thursday

April 13, 2011MAIOCCO ARCHIVE49ERS PAGE49ERS VIDEOMatt MaioccoCSNBayArea.comAlabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, a candidate to be the top overall pick in this month's draft, is scheduled to travel to the Bay Area late Wednesday to meet with the 49ers, a league source told CSN Bay Area.Dareus will spend most of Thursday at the 49ers' team offices, visiting with the defensive coaching staff, the source said. Dareus visited Wednesday with the Denver Broncos. He had visits scheduled with seven teams picking in the top 10, NFL.com previously reported.It appears unlikely Dareus (6-foot-3, 319 pounds) will be available for the 49ers to pick with the No. 7 overall selection. The Carolina Panthers are believed to be seriously considering Dareus for the top pick in the draft. In his final two seasons at Alabama, Dareus recorded 20 tackles for loss and 11 sacks while starting all 25 games in which he appeared. He declared for the NFL draft following his junior season.
Also, Texas A&M outside linebacker Von Miller is also scheduled to arrive in the Bay Area this evening and meet with the 49ers, the Sacramento Bee previously reported.This is a busy time for 49ers. The organization has already met within the past week with quarterbacks Ryan Mallett (Arkansas) and Andy Dalton (TCU), running backs Kendall Hunter (Oklahoma State) and Delone Carter (Syracuse), nose tackle Phil Taylor (Baylor), linebacker Justin Houstin (Georgia), and cornerback Prince Amukamara (Nebraska), according to various reports.
