Lloyd Pierce, whom the Warriors hired as an assistant coach in late December, will not be a part of Mark Jackson's coaching staff in 2011-12.Pierce was hired by the Warriors on Dec. 24, to replace Stephen Silas, who left the team to work with his father Paul Silas in Charlotte. During his brief tenure with Golden State, Pierce was seen primarily working out individually with Warriors players. He was also a part of each of the Warriors multiple player draft workouts conducted in the weeks leading up to last week's NBA draft.
Pierce is a Bay Area native and attended Santa Clara University. He had spent the previous three seasons as player development coordinator for the Cleveland Cavaliers.Jackson was named head coach of the Warriors on Jun 6, and on the same day Michael Malone was named Jackson's lead assistant. The Warriors are also expected to hire long-time Chicago Bulls assistant Pete Myers, although that will likely not be announced until after June 30.The Warriors also received permission to talk with Orlando Magic assistant coach Steven Clifford approximately two weeks ago, but Clifford is said to be staying put.
