Giants release statement on Neukom's ‘retirement'

After news broke that Bill Neukom would no longer be the Giants' managing general partner and CEO, the team released a statement announcing his retirement and explained his future role with the organization.

The following is the full statement from the Giants:

The Giants have been planning for a transition in which Managing General Partner and CEO Bill Neukom will retire from his position effective December 31, 2011. Mr. Neukom will serve as Chairman Emeritus in 2012. Giants President and Chief Operating Officer Larry Baer will assume Mr. Neukoms duties and succeed him as Chief Executive Officer.Out of respect to the fans and the team, the organization had planned to announce the transition at the conclusion of the 2011 season.Mr. Neukom and Mr. Baer will be available to the press tomorrow 11:00 a.m. in the press conference room at AT&T Park.
