Has Gilbert Arenas Lost A Step? You Tell Me

Share

Thisis a little bit dated, but Id love to get some feedback. It has to do withlast Saturday night, when Gilbert Arenas laid 45 on the Warriors in the Wizardsvictory at Oracle Arena. As formerWarriors GM Garry St. Jean and I watched the game, we talked about how eventhough Arenas was putting on a show he still didnt resemble the player he wasfrom a few years agobefore his three knee surgeries.St.Jean and I maintained that Arenas wasnt getting to the rim like he once had,and how a bunch of his points came from outside shots. Then, in the fourthquarter, even when Arenas sealed the deal he seemed to do so more in a craftyand clever way than in an athletic and quickness way. So,after the game as we threw to game analyst Jim Barnett, I mentioned that Ithought Arenas had lost a step. I knowbad game to bring it up considering hehad just scored 45.Barnettdisagreed with meand St. Jeansaying no way Arenas had lost a step andthat he thought Arenas was the same player he always was. I love a hoops debateeven more than I love Barnett, so Id love to throw it out to you all.IsArenas the same player he once was, or has he slowed down a little bit? Justthrowing it out there.Video recap of Arenas' 45-point game vs. Warriors on Dec. 19
