BALTIMORE –- The 49ers on Saturday signed wide receiver Lance Lewis.

To make room for Lewis on the 90-man roster, the 49ers waived/injured wide receiver Chuck Jacobs, who tore his ACL in the 49ers' exhibition opener Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens, Jim Harbaugh confirmed.

If Jacobs clears waivers, he will automatically revert to the 49ers' injured reserve list.

Michael Crabtree and Brandon Lloyd have also been out for a week with hamstring strains.

Lewis (6-foot-2, 207 pounds) signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent from East Carolina in 2012. He appeared on Washington’s active roster for three games last season.

He later signed with Dallas but was waived in May.

Lewis is the second former Dallas receiver the 49ers have added in a week. The 49ers claimed L’Damian Washington off waivers on Sunday and cut Jonathan Baldwin.
