Veteran Antoine Bethea is set to replace Donte Whitner as the 49ers’ starting strong safety after agreeing to terms on a four-year contract. Whitner agreed on a deal with the Cleveland Browns at roughly the same time Bethea committed to the 49ers.

Bethea, a two-time Pro Bowl performer during his eight seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, is slated to start alongside Eric Reid.
