Wide receiver Quinton Patton, who spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, took a free-agent visit to meet with the New York Jets on Saturday, the club announced.
Patton set career-bests with 37 catches for 408 yards last season. The 49ers have not made an attempt to re-sign him as an unrestricted free agent while signing Pierre Garçon, Marquise Goodwin and Aldrick Robinson in the first week of free agency.
Jets offensive coordinator John Morton was Patton’s wide receivers coach in 2013 and ’14 on Jim Harbaugh’s staff with the 49ers. Patton entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick from Louisiana Tech.
