49ers punter Andy Lee was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday after he punted six times in the 49ers’ 31-17 win over Tennessee.
He averaging 46.7 yards per punt and placed three inside the Titans’ 20-yard line.
With 6:29 remaining in the fourth quarter, Lee boomed a 55-yard punt down to the Titans’ 11-yard line that was muffed and recovered in the end zone by wide receiver Kassim Osgood to give the 49ers a 31-10 lead.
Lee and his coverage unit limited Tennessee to two punt returns for minus-one yard, tied for the lowest single-game total of any NFC opponent in Week 7.
He averaged 43.5 net yards per punt, the highest of any NFC player in Week 7.
In his 10th season from Pittsburgh, this is Lee’s third career Player of the Week Award and first since 2012 (Week 7).
Lee is the first player in franchise history to be named Special Teams Player of the Week three times.
