SANTA CLARA – The 49ers placed right guard Alex Boone on the reserve/did not report list after his failure to appear Wednesday for the first day of training camp.
Boone, who is under contract for two more seasons, is subject to fines of $30,000 for every day he does not report to camp. He does not count against the 49ers’ 90-player roster limit. The 49ers currently have one roster opening.
Boone is seeking a new contract to replace the deal that makes him NFL’s 43rd-highest paid offensive guard. Boone does not plan to report to camp without a new contract, according to sources. Meanwhile, the 49ers’ stance is that they do not negotiate contracts with players until they report to camp.
Tight end Vernon Davis, who sought a new contract from the 49ers in the offseason, reported to camp on time.
