SANTA CLARA – The 49ers made the expected move to place All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman on the physically-unable-to-perform list upon reporting to training camp on Wednesday.

Bowman underwent surgery on Feb. 4 to repair a torn ACL he sustained in the NFC Championship game Jan. 19 against the Seattle Seahawks. Players who open camp on PUP are eligible to activated at any point in training camp.

However, Bowman is expected to open the regular season on PUP, which would make him ineligible to participate in the first six games of the season.
