SANTA CLARA – Rookie free safety Eric Reid has not experienced any setbacks after leaving Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a concussion, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said.

Reid was back at practice on Wednesday, wearing a no-contact blue jersey. However, several other significant 49ers players did not take part in the early portion of practice.

Tight end Vernon Davis (hamstring), defensive linemen Ray McDonald (ankle) and Justin Smith were not on the practice field. Smith was spotted in the weight room, and he was indicated on the team's practice report with a shoulder injury.

Also, outside linebacker Aldon Smith had his left knee wrapped and did not take part in warmup drills prior to the 49ers’ padded practice. Running back LaMichael James (left knee) was rehabbing on a side field with the other injured players who are currently on the reserve lists, including wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Achilles).

Reid appears to be on pace to see action Sunday against the Colts. Reid must go through the mandatory NFL protocol to return to action. The final step is to undergo a “contact simulation,” which typically takes place late in the week. If Reid makes it through the week without experiencing any post-concussion symptoms, he will be cleared to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

“It’s been good, no setbacks,” Harbaugh said. “Very much what he said after the game, he felt good, felt clear without any symptoms.”

Reid sustained a concussion due to his big hit on Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice. When the 49ers’ medical staff gathered around Reid on the field, he did not remember the play on which the injury occurred.

Davis sustained a left hamstring strain while running a deep route in the fourth quarter that resulted in Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s interception of Colin Kaepernick.

Defensive lineman Ray McDonald exited the game late in the fourth quarter with a right ankle sprain. McDonald underwent X-rays that were negative.
