The Friday session at M&T Bank Stadium has been cancelled due to rules in the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding consecutive days of practice, which would have otherwise been violated.
Following both teams' preseason opener on Thursday, Aug. 7, there are still three joint practices with San Francisco and Baltimore scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the team's facility in Owings Mills, Maryland.
Friday, Aug. 8 is also the same day 49ers All-Pro linebacker Aldon Smith is scheduled to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell in New York.
Smith faces discipline under the NFL’s policy on substance after pleading “no contest” to DUI charges. He was sentenced to serve 11 days on a work crew. Also, he faces possible discipline under the NFL’s personal conduct policy for possession of illegal assault rifles under California law. A judge reduced the felony charges to misdemeanors.
