SANTA CLARA -- The San Francisco 49ers have signed guard Al Netter to a one-year deal to fill the 90th spot on the team's roster.
The team announced the deal to bring back Netter on Monday, less than a month after he was waived to make room for the signing of Blake Costanzo.
The 49ers were one player under the 90-man roster limit since veteran cornerback Eric Wright abruptly retired at the start of the 49ers' mandatory minicamp on June 17.
Netter entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern in 2012 and spent that entire season on San Francisco's practice squad. He spent last season on the practice squad for the 49ers and Tennessee and has yet to play a game in the NFL.
He re-signed with San Francisco in January but was waived June 3.
