SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers signed six of their eight practice-squad players to contracts for the 2014 season on Tuesday.

Tackle Carter Bykowski, a seventh-round draft pick in 2013, was among the players who signed new deals. The others are wide receivers Chuck Jacobs and Devon Wylie, tackle Al Netter, nose tackle Mike Purcell and defensive back Dax Swanson.

Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who finished the season on the 49ers' practice squad, left the team facility on Monday without signing a future contract. He said he would like to return to the 49ers in 2014.

But as a player with some experiencing on the 53-man rosters of the Minnesota Vikings and 49ers, Bethel-Thompson might weigh his options. Bethel-Thompson could compete for the backup job behind Colin Kaepernick if he does not return. Backup Colt McCoy is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent.

The only other 49ers practice-squad player who did not immediately re-sign was running back Jewel Hampton.
