The 49ers on Friday announced the signing of cornerback Kenneth Acker, a sixth-round draft pick from Southern Methodist.

Acker becomes the sixth 49ers draft pick to sign the standard four-year contract, joining second-rounder Carlos Hyde, fourth-rounder Dontae Johnson, fifth-rounders Aaron Lynch and Keith Reaser, and seventh-rounder Kaleb Ramsey.

Acker, who attended Grant High School in Portland, Oregon, was a second-team All-American Conference selection in 2013 and a second-team All-Conference USA pick in 2012.

In 46 career games (38 starts), Acker recorded 159 tackles, seven interceptions and 29 passes defensed.

He also averaged 22.7 yards on 15 kickoff returns and 8.1 yards on 14 punt returns.
