49ers sign TE Peelle, waive S Colin Jones

CSNBayArea.com staffThe 49ers have signed TE Justin Peelle to a one-year contract and waived rookie safety Colin Jones, the team announced today.Peelle enters his 10th season in the NFL after being drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Oregon.Peelle spent the past three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, where he played behind Tony Gonzalez at tight end, but started eight games at wide receiver alongside Roddy White in 2010.The 49ers drafted Colin Jones in the 6th round of the 2011 Draft out of TCU. He played solely on special teams in the 49ers' 33-17 win over the Seahawks last Sunday.If he clears waivers Wednesday he is a candidate to be re-signed to the practice squad.
