HOUSTON -- Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd caught the eye of 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh during pregame warmups.

But Lloyd informed the coaching staff he was not ready to play in the exhibition finale due to an undisclosed leg injury.

“Yeah, he’s still dealing with something,” Harbaugh said Thursday night after the 49ers’ 40-13 victory over the Houston Texans. “But he looked good in pregame. I noticed that.”

When asked if Lloyd was healthy enough to play, Harbaugh said, “No, he said he was not.”

The 49ers rested all but four projected regular-season starters Thursday night. Lloyd is not a starter, and his spot on the 49ers’ 53-man roster is in some degree of doubt. He caught one pass for 7 yards in the exhibition season.

Lloyd, Stevie Johnson, Bruce Ellington and Quinton Patton are all battling for roles in the 49ers’ offense behind starters Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree.

Johnson played 10 snaps in the game and saw two passes thrown his way. He did not have a reception. Johnson finished the exhibition season with two catches for 11 yards.

Left tackle Carter Bykowski was the only 49ers player this exhibition season to play every snap. Bykowski took part in all 72 snaps of the 49ers’ offense.

Linebackers Michael Wilhoite and Dan Skuta, and cornerback Perrish Cox, did not see any action on defense. But each player saw limited snaps on special teams.
