The 49ers on Tuesday waived fullback Alex Debniak, whose rookie season ended last year in a June workout due to a torn Achilles.

Debniak played linebacker in 38 career games at Stanford, but the 49ers signed him as an undrafted rookie and converted him to fullback. He spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve.

Debniak sustained his torn Achilles two weeks after Michael Crabtree went down with the same injury during the 49ers’ offseason program.
