Florida State wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin said he received some encouraging words from 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick on his previously reported visit to the 49ers.

“I actually saw (Colin) Kaepernick,” Benjamin said Monday on 95.7 The Game. “He’s cool. He kept telling the coach, you know, (to) get me here. He wanted to see me in those football pads. I had a great time with the coaching staff. I love the organization. The weather out there is great. It was a great atmosphere.”

Benjamin (6 foot 5, 240 pounds) is expected to be a first- or second-round draft pick. He caught 54 passes for 1,011 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore before declaring for the NFL draft. Benjamin caught the game-winning 2-yard touchdown pass from Jameis Winston with :13 remaining in the BCS Championship Game against Auburn.

His visit to the 49ers consisted of lunch with receivers coach John Morton, as well as a film session with coach Jim Harbaugh. Benjamin said he was taught about "five percent" of the 49ers' playbook and went to the board to diagram ways to beat certain defensive coverages.

Benjamin also made visits to Baltimore, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cincinnati, Miami, Jacksonville and New York Jets, he said.
