Brooks, Hyde sit out 49ers' Thanksgiving Day practice

Outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks sat out the 49ers' practice on Thanksgiving day as he continues to go through the NFL’s concussion protocol, the team announced.

Brooks got a late start this week in the steps required to be cleared to play in the 49ers’ game Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals because he was not checked for a head injury during or immediately after the 49ers’ game at Seattle on Sunday.

Brooks did not first report that he was experiencing a headache until after the team returned to practice this week to prepare to face the Cardinals, coach Jim Tomsula said on Wednesday. At that point, Brooks was placed into the league's concussion protocol.

Running back Carlos Hyde, who has missed three games with a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, did not practice and appears doubtful to attempt to play on Sunday. Hyde has not practiced or played since the 49ers' game Oct. 22 against the Seahawks at Levi's Stadium.
