Crabtree making progress in rehab
SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers and Cleveland Browns reportedly spoke recently about a possible trade of wide receiver Josh Gordon.
While those talks are apparently dormant, according to CSNBayArea.com sources, the Browns are stating publicly that Gordon is not on the trade block.
“We're not shopping Josh and we have no plans of trading Josh,” Browns coach Rob Chudzinski told Cleveland reporters on Wednesday.
Gordon, who served a two-game suspension at the beginning of the season, would be subject to a one-year suspension of he again runs afoul of the NFL’s policy of substances of abuse.
Gordon, a second-year pro, has 18 catches for 303 yards and two touchdowns in three games.
Anquan Boldin leads the 49ers with 26 receptions for 393 yards and two touchdowns. Their other wide receivers -- Kyle Williams, Jon Baldwin, Marlon Moore, Quinton Patton and Kassim Osgood -- have combined for 13 catches for 112 yards.
The 49ers expect Mario Manningham to begin practicing as early as next week as he returns from a torn ACL that ended his season a year ago. Also, Michael Crabtree (Achilles) might be able to return to the lineup in mid- to late-November, coach Jim Harbaugh said this week.
