It's official: Doug Pederson is the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
While the news of the Eagles' decision broke on Thursday and was confirmed by CSNPhilly.com, the Eagles had to wait until the Chiefs lost in the playoffs to hire their offensive coordinator. That happened Saturday.
So on Monday, the Eagles announced Pederson is the 21st coach in team history. The team will hold an introductory press conference on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

“We are excited to introduce Doug Pederson as our new head coach,” Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement released by the team. “Doug is a strategic thinker, a compelling leader and communicator, and someone who truly knows how to get the best out of his players. All of these factors were what initially attracted us to Doug and we believe that he is the right man to help us achieve our ultimate goal.”
Pederson, 47, has been the Chiefs' offensive coordinator for the last three seasons under Andy Reid after following Reid from Philadelphia to Kansas City. Before his time in Kansas City, Pederson was an assistant coach under Reid with the Eagles from 2009-12.
