The 49ers will meet with Edelman at the team's Santa Clara facility, and the club also has interest in New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, ESPN reported.

Edelman, a five-year veteran from Kent State, caught 105 passes for 1,056 yards and four touchdowns with the New England Patriots last season. He is a native of nearby Redwood City.

Edelman has received "considerable interest," a source said, but his trip to meet with the 49ers will be his first free-agent visit.

Nicks is a five-year veteran who caught 56 passes for 896 yards for the Giants. Nicks¹ best seasons were in 2010 and 2011. He caught 79 passes for 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns in '10, and followed it up with 76 receptions for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns.

Indianapolis, Carolina and San Diego are also reportedly interested in Nicks.
