Family names son after 49ers DL Arik Armstead

Arik Armstead had his fair share of up and down moments for the 49ers as a rookie last season. The No. 17 overall pick out of Oregon in the 2015 NFL Draft played in all 16 games, starting one of them on the defensive line.

With the 49ers only playing one game in 2016, the new year didn't bring too much on the field for Armstead. Off the field, however, is a whole different story.

Armstead met a young fan in the mall, and had a lasting impact on the boy's mother. The local product from Sacramento explained an injury he had and sunk down to the young boy's height to go over how it happened better.

The mother gained respect for Armstead taking time for her son, and on Wednesday his impact became one that will last a lifetime.

On Jan. 20, 2016, Cherie Nash -- the mother of the boy Armstead met -- had a new baby boy, which she named Arik Joshua. She then messaged Armstead over Instagram to tell him she "kind of sort of named him after you."

To say the least, Armstead was stunned by this gesture.

He went to Twitter to post the woman's message along with a picture of Armstead and her older boy, and her new son Arik.

Armstead's tweet to show his respects, read: "Wow I can't even comprehend this. I am beyond honored. I guess treating people the right way does go a long way."

The rookie totaled 19 tackles with two sacks in his first NFL season.
