INDIANAPOLIS – There is no question the 49ers want to bring back wide receiver Anquan Boldin, coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday.
The 49ers hold sole negotiating rights with Boldin, who is scheduled to be a free agent, until March 8.
“Anquan will be No. 1,” Harbaugh said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “There’s angst, and there’s work to be done. The direction it’s going is very positive because we’re unanimous. It’s not just me who wants Anquan Boldin back.
“We feel there’s a process. It could be days, weeks, but there’s a process and it’s going in a positive direction from the standpoint of the San Francisco 49ers.”
Boldin, 33, led the 49ers last season with 85 receptions for 1,179 yards and seven touchdowns. He was voted as the winner of the Bill Walsh Award, which goes annually to the team MVP.
“Really, Anquan’s done everything that Anquan could possibly do with the way he played and the kind of teammate he was last year,” Harbaugh said. “We’re all lockstep on how we feel about him.”
