SANTA CLARA -- Shortly after the 49ers took a player that draws some comparisons to outside linebacker Aldon Smith on Saturday, coach Jim Harbaugh made the TV circuit on draft day.

Appearing on ESPN, Harbaugh was asked how the 49ers are preparing for the possibility that Smith could face an NFL suspension this season.

“Aldon’s been here working out in our offseason program,” Harbaugh said. “So we’re with him hourly, daily. And that’s how we’re going about preparing. He’s doing his job.”

The 49ers invested a fifth-round pick, No. 150 overall, to select South Florida outside linebacker Aaron Lynch, a 6-foot-5, 249-pound pass-rusher whose draft stock tumbled due to character questions.
