SANTA CLARA – The 49ers will keep the same order at the quarterback position for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers, coach Jim Harbaugh said on Friday.
Colin Kaepernick will start, followed by Blaine Gabbert, Josh Johnson and McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

Who is the No. 2 quarterback?
“Blaine is that guy right now,” Harbaugh said.
Gabbert has struggled in the 49ers’ first two exhibition games. He has completed 11 of 25 passes for 60 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. His passer rating is 17.9.
“I don’t judge it off just those,” Harbaugh said of using statistics to evaluate a quarterback. “I’ve been pretty clear what I thought we needed to get better as, as a unit. Team-oriented offense that has precision and plays wells together, all 11, and that’s what we’re going to be striving for.
“And we’ve had a good week. Feel like we made progress. Hopefully, that progress shows up on Sunday.”
Johnson has completed 8 of 11 passes for 72 yards, but has lost two fumbles. Bethel-Thompson is 9 of 15 for 105 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.
