Jake Rudock threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns and Michigan's defense dominated throughout in the No. 17 Wolverines' 41-7 victory over No. 19 Florida on Friday in the Citrus Bowl.

After the game, his former quarterback in the NFL, 49ers passer Colin Kaepernick, congratulated his ex-coach.

Harbaugh replied:

Harbaugh drafted Kaepernick No. 36 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Nevada-Reno. It was Harbaugh's first draft as an NFL head coach.

Kaepernick played for Harbaugh from 2011-2014, starting 39 regular-season games during that time, while appearing in two NFC Championships and a Super Bowl.

Harbaugh and the 49ers parted ways after the 2014 season where the team finished 8-8. He signed on as the Michigan Wolverines head football coach in Dec. 2014.

Kaepernick, in his third full year as a starter, was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert before being placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a torn labrum.
