We got to get better. This is going to be an important week for us -- a big week. We need improvement. And we need to make decisions on who we’re playing with.
Jim Harbaugh

Programming note: For comprehensive 49ers coverage, tune in to SportsNet Central tonight at 6, 10:30 and midnight on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.

The third exhibition game is generally when teams play their regulars the most.

In the immediate aftermath of the 49ers’ 34-0 thrashing at the hands of the Denver Broncos, coach Jim Harbaugh played up the importance of this week of work.

“We got to get better,” Harbaugh said. “This is going to be an important week for us -- a big week. We need improvement. And we need to make decisions on who we’re playing with. We’re not going to keep experimenting. We got to tighten this down fast.”

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick played 16 snaps. The 49ers managed five first downs during the two possessions he was in the game. But they did not generate any points.
