My wife knows my schedule a little better than (me) when it comes to where we’re going to be for Christmas. But I’ll be watching, for sure, if I’m not there.

Legendary quarterback Joe Montana might not be in attendance for the 49ers’ final game at Candlestick Park.

Montana will be in New Orleans on Dec. 21 to watch his son, Nick, play quarterback for Tulane in the New Orleans Bowl against Louisiana-Lafayette.

The 49ers’ final scheduled game at Candlestick Park is Monday night, Dec. 23, against the Atlanta Falcons.

“I, most likely, will not be there with Christmas, and my son has a game a couple days before that,” Montana said Thursday on 95.7 The Game. “(I’ll) probably still be back in New Orleans or flying home that day – one of those things.

“All the kids are coming home that weekend, or starting that Monday or Tuesday. My wife knows my schedule a little better than (me) when it comes to where we’re going to be for Christmas. But I’ll be watching, for sure, if I’m not there.”

The 49ers are counting down the top-10 football moments at Candlestick Park this season. And, obviously, Montana’s pass to Dwight Clark – more commonly known as “The Catch” – in the NFC Championship game against the Dallas Cowboys in the 1981 season will be commemorated during the final home game.

Candlestick Park will be razed after the season, and the 49ers will move into Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara for the 2014 season.
