SANTA CLARA -– San Francisco 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite said Thursday he is unlikely to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns due to a high-ankle sprain.
Wide receiver Torrey Smith also did not practice because of back and toe conditions, the 49ers disclosed on their participation report. Smith reported soreness and was held out of practice. He is expected to be available for Sunday's game.
Linebacker Aaron Lynch and tight end Vance McDonald did not practice again on Thursday due to concussions. Both players must first return to non-contact football activity, then pass a contact test before Sunday's game, in order to be cleared to play against the Browns.

Wilhoite will likely see an end to his streak of 28 consecutive games in the starting lineup after aggravating his ankle injury against the Bears in the first quarter.
Gerald Hodges will replace Wilhoite in the starting lineup. Hodges started three of the four games in which he appeared for the Minnesota Vikings this season before the 49ers acquired him in an Oct. 6 trade for center Nick Easton.
Center Marcus Martin was limited in practice due to an ankle sprain. Daniel Kilgore, who saw six snaps as an emergency tight end against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, saw more practice time at center. He could make his season debut at center Sunday. Kilgore spent the first 12 games on the physically-unable-to-perform list.
