SANTA CLARA –- Quarterback Colin Kaepernick said he was not surprised to see Vernon Davis report to training camp on time, rather than hold out for a new contract.

“Vernon is not the type of person that’s going to walk out on his team like that,” Kaepernick said Wednesday. “He’s a good guy. He’s done a lot for this organization and he’s made a lot of great plays for us. We’re happy he’s here.”

Meanwhile, right guard Alex Boone did not report.

Boone did not participate in the team’s offseason program and he skipped the mandatory minicamp. He is now subject to $30,000 in fines every day he stays away from training camp.

Said Kaepernick, “(I’d) love to have him here, but not going to speak on another man’s business. That’s his personal decision.”
