Officially, quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s new contract makes him the sixth-highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

Documents obtained by CSNBayArea.com place Kaepernick with an average-per-year at $19 million on the $115.073 million extension he signed on Wednesday.

Here are the top-10 paid quarterbacks in the NFL in average per year:
1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay, $22 million
2. Matt Ryan, Atlanta, $20.75 million
3. Joe Flacco, Baltimore, $20.1 million
4. Drew Brees, New Orleans, $20 million
5. Peyton Manning, Denver, $19.2 million
6. Colin Kaepernick, 49ers, $19 million
7. Jay Cutler, Chicago, $18.1 million
8. Tony Romo, Dallas, $18 million
9. Matthew Stafford, Detroit, $17.666 million
10. Eli Manning, N.Y. Giants, $16.25 million

The thing that sets Kaepernick’s contract apart is the relatively low level of full guarantees. Only his $12.328 million signing bonus and first-year salary of $645,000 are fully guaranteed.

Kaepernick’s average-per-year totals do not include a possible $2 million per year from 2015 to 2020 in escalators.

Here is how Kaepernick’s contract is currently structured to count against the 49ers’ salary cap, according to official documents:
2014: $3,767,444
2015: $15,265,753
2016: $16,765,753
2017: $19,365,753
2018: $19,865,754
2019: $19,200,000
