After the Giants' 2012 World Series win, some rabid fans took to the streets of San Francisco, vandalizing a municipal bus.
But this week the city is taking measures to ensure that the same thing does not happen after the 49ers NFC title game on Sunday.
According to SFGate.com, Muni will be removing historic cable cars and streetcars from service in order to protect them regardless of the outcome of Sunday's game.
Diesel and hybrid buses will replace streetcars on several routes.
The city also took riot prevention measures before last year's 49ers-Ravens Super Bowl with mayor Ed Lee recommending that bars limit the sale of hard alcohol to curb fan rioting.
