Paul McCartney to play 'Farewell to Candlestick' concert

Paul McCartney announced on his website Thursday he will return to San Francisco and will be performing at Candlestick Park on August 14 as the final concert at the former home of the 49ers and Giants. 

McCartney's 2014 U.S. 'Out There' U.S. tour is scheduled to make 16 stops with the final concert to be played at Candlestick. McCartney will close the same iconic venue where The Beatles played their final concert date on August 29, 1966. 

Tickets will go on sale May 5 at 10 a.m. local time.
