Two weeks after 49ers running back Reggie Bush sustained a season-ending knee injury after slipping on the concrete surface behind the team's bench area at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, measures have been taken to prevent a similar incident.
In the Rams’ first game since Bush’s injury, a blue rubber surface covering the concrete was installed. The Rams play host to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Bush, 30, underwent left knee surgery two days after the incident. The 49ers placed him on season-ending injured reserve.

Bush reportedly hired a lawyer with the intent of filing a lawsuit because of the incident. One week earlier, Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown lost his footing on the concrete and slid into the permanent wall.
Bush appeared in just five games for the 49ers. He had eight rushing attempts for 28 yards and caught four passes for 19 yards. Bush was pushed out of bounds on a punt return before his momentum carried him onto the exposed concrete.
The 49ers signed Bush, a 10-year pro, to a one-year contract in March.
