On the first day of the new league year, the 49ers acquired their backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth-round pick. Gabbert’s $2.011 million salary for the 2014 season is fully guaranteed.

Colin Kaepernick, Gabbert and McLeod Bethel-Thompson are the only quarterbacks on the 49ers’ offseason roster. The team could invest a draft pick next month to add a quarterback for training camp, too.
