SANTA CLARA – The 49ers remain unsettled at cornerback entering the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Veteran Carlos Rogers went through limited practice for the second day in a row after missing the 49ers’ first two playoff games with a hamstring strain. Tarell Brown was elevated back into the starting lineup for the playoffs, alongside Tramaine Brock, due to Rogers’ injury.

“They played well,” 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said of Brown and Brock. “They haven’t been perfect, but overall they have played well. We’ve played two really good offenses, two that have really good quarterbacks. You can’t play well as a unit if your corners don’t hold up to some degree.”

The 49ers held Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers to 177 yards on 17-of-26 passing. Then, Carolina’s Cam Newton completed 16 of 25 attempts for 267 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ 23-10 victory on Sunday.

When asked if Brock and Brown could remain as the starters with Rogers regaining his role as the 49ers' nickelback from Perrish Cox, Fangio said, “All possibilities are on the table.”

The nickel back’s main duty will be to cover Seattle receiver Percy Harvin, if he’s available. Harvin sustained a concussion on Saturday against the New Orleans Saints and has yet to be cleared to resume practice.
