Seahawks' DE Bennett rips Rams' RB Gurley, P Hekker after loss

After the Seahawks' Week 16 loss to the Rams, Seattle's Michael Bennett did not hesitate to call out multiple members of the opposition.

Bennett was particularly irate with Rams punter Johnny Hekker, who blindsided teammate Cliff Avril with a cheap shot. When the Pro Bowl defensive end went after Hekker, he curled up on the ground "like a coward," Bennett told the Tacoma News Tribune.

“He was scared. He squealed like a little girl. ... That’s just the kind of players they have on their team," he added.

Bennett's criticism of Rams running back Todd Gurley, while more tame, were far less warranted.

“He’s average to me, personally. He got a couple of big runs on miscommunication and misalignment, but I mean, I’ve seen better running backs in the NFL.

“He’s just a rookie … I had to tell him that, too: ‘You are just a rookie. You haven’t done anything.’”

Gurley, a top candidate for the NFL Rookie of the Year award, rushed for 85 yards and a crucial fourth-quarter touchdown in the game.
