Forty-eight hours before the Seahawks face the 49ers, Seattle running back Fred Jackson was involved in a one-car collision Tuesday evening in Renton, Washington.

Two people with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that Jackson was uninjured when his car crashed outside the team's facility.

The people spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the accident. Jackson was taken back to the team's facility and reported no injuries.

TMZ was the first to report news of the accident. Reports that Jackson was drag racing with teammate and Oakland-native Marshawn Lynch have been dismissed by the Renton Police Department, who released a statement Tuesday evening regarding the matter:

Police responded to the intersection of Seahawks Way and Lake Washington Boulevard North this evening for a report of a one car collision.

Officers determined that at about 4:49 PM, a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette lost control as it drove southbound on Seahawks Way, struck a street sign, and came to rest on the north side of Lake Washington Boulevard North. The car sustained moderate front end damage.

The driver of the Corvette was identified as Seahawks player Frederick Jackson. He appeared uninjured but was taken to the VMAC so team personnel could evaluate him.

Early news releases indicated that Jackson was racing another team member and was removed from the scene by team security before officers could investigate.  These reports are false.  As of this time, there is no indication that Jackson was racing another vehicle.  He remained on scene until officers could speak to him.  He was polite and cooperative.

Photos of Jackson's black Chevrolet Corvette with New York license plates were seen on social media. A stop sign and street signs were knocked over in the wreck. The accident happened at the end of a long straight road that leads from the Seahawks facility to Lake Washington Blvd and in front of a Seahawks sign.

At 7:17pm PST, Jackson sent out a tweet explaining what happened.
