The Seattle Seahawks waived former 49ers quarterback B.J. Daniels on Saturday.

Daniels was cut to make room for the return of left tackle Russell Okung, who was selected to the Pro Bowl last season. Okung was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return after injuring a toe in the Seahawks’ Week 2 victory over the 49ers.

Daniels, a seventh-round draft pick, earned a spot on the 49ers’ 53-man roster to open the regular season by beating out Scott Tolzien and Seneca Wallace. Daniels completed 13 of 21 pass attempts for 178 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the exhibition season.

However, the 49ers waived Daniels on Oct. 1 to make room for veteran quarterback John Skelton. A week later, the 49ers released Skelton after claiming McLeod Bethel-Thompson off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings. Bethel-Thompson has been inactive for all four games since joining the team.

The 49ers could re-sign Daniels to the practice squad, but it seems unlikely the 49ers would keep four quarterbacks under contract. Bethel-Thompson also has practice-squad eligibility.
