Richard Sherman was not willing to give the 49ers much credit in the regular season and after the NFC Championship game.
But in the hours after the Seahawks’ 43-8 thrashing of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, he reluctantly offered some praise of the NFC West rival.
In a report on MMQB.SI.com, Sherman hated to admit it, but said, “the NFC Championship was the Super Bowl. The 49ers were the second-best team in the NFL.”
Sherman’s pass breakup in the end zone in the final seconds led to Malcolm Smith’s clinching interception in the Seahawks’ 23-17 victory over the 49ers at CenturyLink Field. The victory propelled Seattle to its first Super Bowl title.
