Colts-49ers matchups to watch

SAN FRANCISCO – All-Pro outside linebacker Aldon Smith will suit up for the 49ers on Sunday, but tight end Vernon Davis will not.
However, it is not known how much Smith will available in future weeks.
Smith, 23, has been involved in at least two other alcohol-related incidents in the past 20 months, which has caused concern within the 49ers’ organization.
The 49ers will encourage Smith to seek treatment after the latest in a string of off-field incidents, according to multiple reports Sunday morning. One source did not rule out the possibility that Smith could seek treatment during the season.
Smith will be in uniform for the 49ers against the Indianapolis Colts just two days after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
Outside linebackers Dan Skuta and Corey Lemonier could see more playing time than usual on Sunday.
Davis sustained a left hamstring strain on last week in the fourth quarter of the 49ers’ 29-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He will not play, which ends a streak of 98 consecutive regular-season and postseason games in which he has appeared.
Rookie Vance McDonald is expected to see most of the playing time in Davis’ absence.
Safety Eric Reid was cleared to play in Sunday’s game after remaining symptom-free for the entire week after a concussion knocked him out of action of last week’s game in Seattle.
Defensive end Ray McDonald (ankles) will also suit up for the game.
The Colts will be without two defensive starters, as safety LaRon Landry (ankle) and middle linebacker Pat Angerer (knee) are inactive.
