SANTA CLARA -- Running back Frank Gore played through Sunday's game and even caught a fourth-down pass on the final drive with an injured finger that will require surgery, a source said.

The surgery is considered "minor," according to the source. Gore played 37 of the 49ers' 55 offensive plays (67 percent) in the team's 23-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.

The 49ers could not get much offense going on Sunday, as the Seahawks front seven dominated the 49ers up front. Gore managed just 14 yards on 11 rushing attempts.

Faced with a fourth-and-2 situation with two minutes remaining in the game, Gore caught a 17-yard pass from Colin Kaepernick to keep the 49ers' hopes on the final drive alive.

Gore, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, will not play in the NFL all-star game, which takes place Sunday in Honolulu. His spot on in the game was filled by Dallas running back DeMarco Murray.
