C.J. Spillman, as it turns out, was the most popular 49ers player when it came to the NFL Pro Bowl fans vote.

The 49ers’ special-teams ace was the only 49ers player to finish as the No. 1 vote-getter at his position. Seven other players finished within the top five of the fan vote.

The players chosen for the Pro Bowl will be announced at 6 p.m. on Friday. The NFL released the voting of the fans, which accounts for one-third of the voting. The players and coaches also vote for the honor.

A year ago, the 49ers had a league-high nine players voted to the NFC Pro Bowl team. This season, there is no distinction between NFC and AFC.

Here’s how 49ers players wound up in NFL in the fan vote:

First: ST C.J. Spillman
Second: OT Joe Staley
Third: TE Vernon Davis, OG Mike Iupati, FS Eric Reid, P Andy Lee
Fourth: ILB NaVorro Bownman
Fifth: ILB Patrick Willis
Seventh: FB Bruce Miller
Eighth: RB Frank Gore, DT Justin Smith, OG Alex Boone, SS Donte Whitner, C Jonathan Goodwin
Tenth: OT Anthony Davis, K Phil Dawson
